Hello and welcome to the Crewesaders Touch Rugby website. Bored of the gym we  decided to create Crewe’s first touch rugby team and from complete novices take the touch rugby world by storm in 2010.  Well, perhaps not but we’ll keep on trying!

crewesadersMale or female aged 18+ (Touch is a MIXED sport) if you live or work in the Crewe area and you want to keep fit, learn something new and have a laugh then you’ve come to the right place.

It doesn’t matter whether you’ve played Touch Rugby before or what level of fitness you have; everybody is welcome. Come along and try it out. We attempt to offer structured training with the aim to enter several competitions later on in the season.

We have players of every level of ability and fitness. Our club is built around a philosophy of playing to the best of our abilities, socialising to the limit of our wallets and having fun.

Training takes place on the Barony in Nantwich from 10.30am on Sundays. Please be aware that we  are not an “official club” (yet) and can not accept any responsibility for injuries or accidents (VERY unlikely!) caused when playing Touch Rugby.

Just to let you all know that Winter training will be held at the Barony in Nantwich at 10.30am on Sundays.

Really good session today. Thanks to Gregg, Matt and Gareth for making up the numbers. We hope to get players across from Wrexham and down from Manchester during the Winter, in order to improve the standard of Touch in the region.

Wed Night – 18/08/10

Don’t forget that training will be on the Barony this Wed, rather than at Ruskin. We hope Wrexham will bring some players across for a coaching session but if not we will sort out a mini tournament.

I was thinking of a 4′s tournament with 6 in a team but only 4 players on the pitch at any one time. 10 minute matches.

P.S Good to see so many people at training recently. Been really impresssed by the RL boys and the return of some faces from last Summer. Chu – we’ll arrange indoor training if you come more often :-)

4 Way Tournament!
August 11, 2010, 3:13 pm

At the moment a venture into the NTS would probably be one step too far. Therefore we are hoping to create a regular 4 way tournament between; Macclesfield, Sheffield, Crewe and Wrexham. A round robin style format over four weekends next summer (where each of us would host the others). We can have a fairly flexible player policy, for example if you have to play 4 men and 2 women on one occasion then that’s fine (we may have to work out some kind of handicap system), anything to get the teams on the field.

We can also look to invite guest teams to individual tournaments in an attempt to drive up standards, or if you have any other ideas for how things may work then give me a shout.

Each team would have to provide at least three player referees of whatever standard at each tournament. (I can get a Level 1 course organized for your nominated refs) and we’d all contribute to each others teams exchanging ideas etc and eventually (perhaps) put together a composite NTS side called the North Wales, South Yorkshire and North East Cheshire Barbarians (or something!)

Would any of you be interested in having a mini tournament (at Crewe?) on either the 4th, 11th or 18th September

Up Coming Fixtures

Two dates for the diary; next Sunday the 18th of July and Sat the 31st of July.

On Sunday the 18th we will be taking on the mighty Wrexham Storm and Macclesfield Touch in Wrexham at 12pm. For directions click here. Rumour has it that Wrexham have undertaken some training recently with several international players so we may be able to pick up a thing or two. Remember we are currently loosing the series 2-0! To see what you’re up against check out this clip!

And on the 31st its the National Touch Rugby League Final in Doncaster (same event as last year in Leeds). If its anything like last year it should be a good event. They have restricted the squad size to just 10 this year so we will issue places on a first come first served basis. It’s mixed so we may need to bring in 1 or 2 female ringers…

Please can you let us know your availability below or text Jules.

So bearing in mind the above it would be good to get a strong attendance for the next few weeks.

Our next recruit…

Good to see some new faces in the last few weeks who are putting us to shame with the way they are picking up the game so quickly! On that note I think we need to all chip into a transfer fund so that we can make the first ever Touch Transfer for this lad, he’s almost as good as me!

Touch Rugby with Crewe & Nantwich RFU

Jules has managed to arrange a session with the rugby lads at Crewe & Nantwich on Thursday night. It would be good to see some familiar faces down there. There is no doubt that they will have some potentially talented players that would make ideal recruits for this Summer!

So if you fancy brushing up on the basics get yourself along to the rugby club on Thursday night at 7pm.

Ignore the dodgy sound track and the filming. The skills are awesome.

Just wondering if any one is interested in playing touch in Manchester on Monday  nights at Trafford Park.

The Manchester Chargers are planning to enter 2 teams and myself & KA will be heading up on Monday nights. Its only a 45 minute trip and you will get 2-3 games a week. It will cost £35.00 per person for the 10 weeks.

Mixed TAG tournament

I wanted to let you all know the date of the Mixed Tag Seven’s tournament that I run with Crewe and Nantwich RUFC. It’s on the 3rd July at the Vagrants with 16 teams playing through the day. Food is on offer and a bar runs late into the night with a disco into the evening in the Marquee! It’s a great day out and it’d be brilliant to get a touch team playing tag. The main difference is having to catch hold of a velcro tag in order to make the tackle. I also think it’d be a great recruitment opportunity for Touch rugby as there are always people who ask me at the end of the tournament about doing more events.

Anyway let me know what you think and hope you can come! See you soon!

Welsh NTS 10th of April

Who fancies playing in the WTS on the 10th of April in Cardiff? KA and I went last year and it was a really good event. The standard is high and the games are 40 mins long. So if you want a challenge I’d really recommend this one. You certainly wont be complaining about not getting the ball or not having much to do.

Please can you let us know if you are interested ASAP so we can start training and recruiting (if necessary!). If we could get 8 players that would be brilliant since Wrexham said they can supply a few as well.
