Wow did it rain yesterday! But we still managed to get 11 players along. A few things worked and a few didn’t but the handling was certainly a lot better and the pace it patches faster. Think we need to introduce a new rule of driving on the first 3 phases or until you are within 30m of the try line. Still yet to see a bow in action but there were plenty of switches and quickies.
Will play the Swansea team on Wed night as a unit and try to learn some moves. So if you are playing at the weekend and fancy doing some homework take a look at these nifty set pieces:
Finally P’sOTW - Only two sessions in and they are really starting to show some great promise; Lo, Carl & Tom.

When Bri called yesterday to say he could not make it and I knew it had been a heavy night on Sat I wasn’t expecting much of a turnout. But by some freakish event or by the fact that there is nothing better to do on Sunday afternoons 15 people turned up yesterday including 3 very promising new faces.
The play certainly got better the longer we went on and by the end we actually scored several tries worthy of any youtube clip!
POTW has to go to Deb! Although she did not actually touch a ball this week she managed to sort out all the admin, babysit on the touchline and even recruited a passer by on her bike who turned out to be awesome. When Deb is back to full fitness us lads better watch out because the girls will have one hell of a good team!
One final thing, non touch related. If you ever need a present for anyone and are struggling for ideas. Deb is a really talented artist (although she will deny it!) and creates beautiful house signs. My Grandparents were really chuffed with the one she made for them and I’ve moved up a few places on the will as a result
P.S If you want me to promote any of your businesses, cheques or cash is welcome!
Yesterday was probably the best touch rugby we have played so far. On a sweltering Sunday afternoon 13 people turned up and got down to playing some proper Touch. I think the main difference was doing the drills and then immediately putting them into practice. Something we will try again on Wed.
P(s)OTW: For pure commitment we have a three way tie between: Jules for his Supermanesque dive, Marv for playing Korfball for 8hrs, staying up until 4am and still making training and Owen for travelling from Nz!
Beach Touch Rugby Tournament
Can those people who wish to play in the original beach tournament in Swansea on the 25th of THIS MONTH please leave their names below. So far we have: Carl, KA, Andy C, Deb, Jules & Siany. The games will only be 10 minutes long so we can get away with 7 players but it would be good if we could have 8+. We are planning on taking down two cars and doing around trip in the day. It should be a laugh, especially for those who aren’t driving and it would be good to get some tournament experience!
We have already paid the entry fee with the Sub’s so it won’t cost you anything unless you want to chip in for petrol and a flower for the dash of my beetle
Can those who are interested please confirm by Wed night at the latest?
Subs
Deb’s has now sorted out a register so there will be NO ducking and diving of subs in the future. Also we now need to pay to use Ruskin so its essential that everyone coughs up. Finally the fact that its only £2.00 a week (not per session) means that there really is no excuse. Remember that all sub’s money will be going to kit and tournament entry fees. Please can you pay Deb’s or Brian before the session starts. Thanks!
I know this is a bit naff but I’d like to award the player of the week to everyone. Last night was spot on. Everyone gave it 100%, well until we were too knackered to give it anymore! I’d like to say a special thanks to the new lads; Marv, Andy, Gareth, Jules & Ben. Cracking effort and we hope to see you again on Sunday.
One final mention to Dan from the RFL. Thanks for venturing South, I know its difficult for you league boys but it was really appreciated. With your help I’m confident that we can make a success of the Crewesaders and help to develop both Touch and League in the region.
P.S. Brian says thanks for the balls – I’ve never seen him so happy!

Got to be quick, I actually have some work to do this morning! Contrary to popular belief!
A good session again last night in which your comitment was tested in braving biblical conditions. Unfortunately unlike Moses, Nat was unable to part the sea and just succeeded in planting her face in a puddle
The communication was loads better. I think we may have actually freaked out any onlooking spectators – nothing unusual there. Still need to concentrate on looking for support when making a touch and being quicker to the drive but its getting there.
Now for the important part; Player of the Week. I think we are going to have to “keep it in the family” and give it to Sarah. Although she was pushed all the way by Lyn, who managed to curtail her sideways running and score two great tries! Sarah wins for her sheer commitment and the fact that she never drops the ball regardless of the conditions.
Ok, I know this is the time you have been all been waiting for. Since you arrived at your desk this morning you have been glued to the Crewesaders website in anticipation…
It is by the unanimous vote of 1(me) that Andy is our player of the week! As a reward for being our most enthusiastic and energetic runner you win the fantastic prize of doing the Warm-Up next week!
P.S – Just wanted to say that it was a really good session last night. Although you may be feeling really confused when playing (down to my rubbish explanations!) I’m amazed at how quickly you have picked up the game. It nearly (it didn’t I’m lying for dramatic effect!)brought a tear to my eye yesterday seeing a three man drive executed perfectly followed by a split right by Sarah, only to be pest up by Tony at the very last moment! Notice the deliberate typo of pest rather than mest when referencing Tony!
Just to give you an idea about how well you are doing this is a clip from the Women’s European Championships last year. I don’t think we will be too far off that standard in another few weeks.
