Good to see some new faces in the last few weeks who are putting us to shame with the way they are picking up the game so quickly! On that note I think we need to all chip into a transfer fund so that we can make the first ever Touch Transfer for this lad, he’s almost as good as me!

Firstly England vs Scotland in the Men’s Open Final and secondly England vs Wales in the Women’s Open Final.

I know you now all can’t wait for Friday to see the clip of the week and this week I have a corker for you! It comes from down-under (yet again!) and is a match between the Nz and Oz Under 20 sides.
A few things we could take from the vid:
- Quick play of the ball is king! And quickies are you best friend when near the 5m line.
- If you have to take a roll ball from the 5m, play it and take a few steps back. Draw the defense onto you. Often they will come up too fast making it easy to counter.
- Dive low and early when near the try line
- Run hard and cut angles from the middles and links.
- Defense don’t switch off once the dummy half is over the try line, stay on your man.
- Our antipodean cousins are able to pass 20m off either hand!
On a positive note our play is now 1000x closer to resembling the video than it was 4 weeks a go. This was perfectly illustrated by Nat performing a quickie last night and scoring!
One final thing; good luck to the lads and lasses going to Swansea this weekend. It should be a good one and no doubt we will pick up a few things. That’s two sexual innuendos in two paragraphs!

I think even Andy Chu would be happy about the first try! OK, so the defence is lacking in most of the clips but the handling skills can not be questioned. Notice how effective the switch / cut is.

This is some scarily good touch rugby by the Australian National side. The footage isn’t great but the movement off the ball is phenomenal. Notice how the middles and links are constantly moving whilst the wingers fix their position.
And this one is for the union boys! Notice the heartfelt apology!
If you thought the 3 man drive clip was good last week check out some of the skills on show here. In particular the pass at 3.14 – I want to see pleanty of these on Suday!
Actions speak louder than words. Just take a look at the first 15 seconds of this clip, to see how fast the plant and the drive can be done. Don’t worry we will work at increasing the tempo on Wed and I have no doubt that we will be up to this speed by the end of the Summer.
One thing to notice is that because the players know that they are going into contact and have a man in support, they aren’t actually slowing down!
You may need to take a look at the first 15 sec several times before you realise what is actually happening. I don’t fancy running backwards that fast!
